Stay Centered and Stand on Principle
"For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law." - Romans 3:28
Too often, when conflict arises, we get lost in our feelings. We get so caught up in being offended that we forget our responsibility as believers, to stand on what matters to God. When Paul confronted Peter, he wasn’t just speaking from his emotions or personal grievances.
He stood firmly on the principle of justification by faith, not opinion. Paul remained centered on God’s truth, and that allowed him to handle the situation with clarity and conviction. This is the key to navigating conflicts in your own life, staying centered on God’s Word, and standing on the principles that align with your faith.
In the same way, Kendrick Lamar won his beef with Drake not because he was louder or more aggressive. He didn’t rely on insults or flashy tactics. He won because he stood on a set of principles that went beyond their personal feud. Kendrick was focused on improving the quality of his craft and elevating the culture.
He didn’t just react in anger; he responded with purpose. When you’re able to stand on principle, you’ll find that you don’t need to fight dirty or get caught up in the chaos. Your foundation will speak for itself.
But staying centered isn’t always easy. When you feel attacked, your flesh may want to lash out. We all know how to react, maybe you learned how to fight back by watching the people around you.
Growing up, you might have seen family members who handled every offense with fists or harsh words. You may have learned that the only way to survive in certain environments was to strike first and ask questions later. This wiring stays with us, and it can cause havoc in our relationships, careers, and spiritual walk.
Yet, as a follower of Christ, you’re called to something higher. When you stand on God’s principles, you win conflicts without ever lowering yourself to the world’s standards. You don’t need to tear someone down or seek revenge to come out on top. Instead, when you stay grounded in God’s truth and trust Him to fight your battles, you’ll find peace even in the midst of the storm.
When conflict comes, don’t react based on what you’ve seen or what you’ve been taught by the world. Stay centered in Christ, stand on principle, and let that be your strength.
