It’s Not All About You
"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." - Philippians 2:3
When your faith grows, so does your focus. You start to see that life isn’t just about what God can do for you but about what He wants to do through you. That’s the shift that happens when your faith reaches the next level. It’s a shift from self-centered living to others-focused impact.
God made this clear to Abram when He changed his name to Abraham. “Abram” meant “exalted father,” a name focused on him as an individual. But “Abraham” meant “father of multitudes,” a name that pointed to his impact on others. With this new name, God was shifting Abraham’s identity and focus. It wasn’t just about him anymore, it was about the generations, nations, and lives that would be touched because of God’s work in and through him.
What about you? Is your faith still focused on your plans, your blessings, and your desires? It’s easy to get stuck in that mindset, especially when you’re in a season of waiting or struggle. But when God takes your faith to the next level, He invites you to lift your eyes beyond yourself and see the bigger picture.
Next-level faith calls you to think about others. The people in your community, the needs of the world, and the opportunities to make a difference. It’s not about losing sight of your own needs, but about realizing that God’s blessings in your life are often meant to flow through you to others. Your resources, your time, and even your testimony are tools God can use to impact those around you.
Maybe God is asking you to shift your focus today. Instead of asking, “What can I get out of this?” ask, “How can I be a blessing to others?” Instead of praying only for your needs, pray for the needs of those around you. Instead of holding onto what you have, look for ways to give and serve.
When you stop making life all about you, you’ll find greater joy, purpose, and fulfillment. God didn’t call you just to receive His blessings but to share them. Trust Him to expand your focus and watch how He uses your life to touch others in ways you never imagined. It’s not all about you, and that’s a beautiful thing.
