Let Go of Control
"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act." - Psalm 37:5
Giving up control is one of the hardest things you will ever do. You like to have a plan. You like to know what is coming next. You like to feel like you have a say in how things turn out. But control is an illusion, and the more you try to grip it, the more anxious, exhausted, and frustrated you become.
The real struggle is not whether you believe God will provide. It is whether you trust Him to give you what you want. That is why surrendering control is so difficult. Deep down, you fear that if you let go, God’s plan will not match your desires. You wonder if He will take you somewhere you do not want to go or keep something from you that you think you need.
But God does not withhold good things from His children. He sees what you cannot see. He knows what you do not know. When you hold on too tightly to your own expectations, you close yourself off from something better. The job you lost, the relationship that ended, the opportunity that fell through – none of it was outside of His plan. When you loosen your grip and trust Him fully, you begin to see that His way is always higher, always wiser, and always right.
Look at your life right now. What are you clinging to? What outcome are you trying to control? What fear is keeping you from surrendering fully to God’s will? Letting go is not a passive thing. It is an act of faith. It is choosing to believe that God is for you, that He will come through, and that His plan is greater than anything you could orchestrate on your own.
You do not have to figure it all out. You do not have to manipulate outcomes. You do not have to carry the weight of control. Let go and commit your way to the Lord. He will not just meet your expectations; He will exceed them.
