Stick to God’s Plan
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6
When life doesn’t go as planned, it’s tempting to take matters into your own hands. Waiting on God’s timing can feel like an eternity, especially when the promise He gave you seems far away, unclear, or even impossible. Frustration creeps in, doubts grow, and before you know it, you’re coming up with your own plan to make things happen.
But not every plan that seems logical or popular is part of God’s purpose for your life. A good idea isn’t always a God idea. Just because others agree with your plan, or it makes sense in the moment doesn’t mean it’s in line with what God has called you to do. When you act on impatience or frustration, you run the risk of creating more challenges than solutions.
Abram and Sarai’s story illustrates this truth. They had waited for years on God’s promise of a child, and when nothing happened, they came up with their own solution. Sarai suggested that Abram have a child through her servant Hagar. It seemed like a logical workaround to their problem, but it wasn’t God’s plan. They acted out of frustration rather than faith, and the consequences were far-reaching.
What about you? Are there areas in your life where you’ve grown tired of waiting on God? Are you tempted to create your own solution because His timing feels too slow? Maybe it’s a job opportunity, a relationship, or a dream you’ve been chasing. Whatever it is, don’t settle for a quick fix that doesn’t align with God’s purpose. His promises may not come on your timeline, but they will come, and they will be worth the wait.
Trusting God means surrendering your desire to control the outcome. It means acknowledging that His plans are higher than yours, even when they don’t make sense. Don’t swing at a pitch just because it’s there. Stay patient, stay faithful, and let God’s perfect timing guide your steps. What He has for you will never require you to step outside of His will.
