Next-Level Connections
"Do not be deceived: 'Bad company ruins good morals.'" - 1 Corinthians 15:33
When God takes you to the next level, it’s not just about where you’re going, it’s about who’s going with you. That’s what happened with Abraham and Sarah. When God changed Abram’s name to Abraham, He also gave Sarai a new name: Sarah. This was a sign that the shift in Abraham’s life required a similar transformation in the one he was connected to.
The same is true for you. If you’re going to the next level in your walk with God, you need to be surrounded by people who are on the same path. It’s hard to grow in your faith if the people around you are stagnant. It’s difficult to pursue God’s purpose for your life when you’re tied to people who don’t share that same drive.
Amos 3:3 asks, “Can two walk together unless they are agreed?” The answer is no. To walk with someone, you need to be aligned in direction, purpose, and vision. If you’re walking toward God’s next for your life, but the people closest to you are content to stay where they are—or worse, pulling you backward—it’s time to reevaluate those connections.
This isn’t about cutting people off or looking down on anyone. It’s about recognizing that your growth requires partnerships that encourage, challenge, and inspire you to keep moving forward. Surround yourself with people who are pursuing God’s will, who speak life into your dreams, and who remind you of God’s promises when you feel like giving up.
Are the people in your life pushing you closer to God or pulling you away? Are they pursuing their own next level, or are they comfortable staying stagnant? It might be time to have some honest conversations or make some intentional changes.
Next-level faith is contagious. When you’re connected to people who are growing in their walk with God, it strengthens your own faith. And when God shifts your life, He often shifts your circle. Trust Him to align you with the right people. People who are going someplace, just like you.
If God is calling you higher, make sure the people walking with you are heading in the same direction. Next-level faith requires next-level connections.
