The Assurance of God's Promises
“For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.” - Romans 8:29
God’s ultimate goal for your life is simple: He wants to see the image of His Son reflected in you. Think about it: just as a shoe shiner knows his work is done when he sees his own reflection in the polished shoe, God wants to see the reflection of Jesus in our lives. Following Jesus is not just about what we do; it’s about who we become. God is shaping you to reflect the peace, love, and character of Jesus in everything you do.
Simeon understood this deep truth. He was waiting for the Messiah, the Prince of Peace, to come. But Simeon knew that peace wasn’t just something around him, it had to be within him. If the Messiah is the Prince of Peace, then Simeon needed peace in his own heart to align with that truth. It’s the same for you. As you wait on God’s promises, He is shaping your character to look more like Jesus every day.
I want to remind you today that God keeps His promises. Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man that He should lie.” In 2 Corinthians 1:20, we are assured that in Christ, all of God’s promises are a “Yes.” God has spoken promises over your life, and He will fulfill them.
Think about the trust a child has in their parent. Recently, I saw a 10-year-old boy flying alone, calm and unbothered, during a delayed flight and turbulent weather. When I asked him why he was so calm, he simply said, “My father told me he would meet me when I land, and I know he’s waiting for me.” That child wasn’t worried because he trusted in his father’s word.
You can trust God like that. No matter what delays or turbulence you may face, know that God has promised to never leave you or forsake you. His word is true, and if He said it, He will do it. Trust in His promises and remember, every day could be the day He delivers what He has promised. Hold on to that assurance as you wait, grounded in faith, peace, and trust in Him.
