What You Want Most
"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." - Psalm 37:4
The hardest part of surrendering control is the fear that God will not give you what you want. You convince yourself that your plan is better, your timing is right, and your desires should take priority. Deep down, you believe that if you fully surrender, you might miss out on something good.
But what if what God wants for you is actually what you want most? Not just what sounds good right now, but what will bring you the deepest joy, the greatest purpose, and the most lasting fulfillment? The problem is that your heart is often out of alignment. You see things from your limited perspective, thinking that if God does not give you what you are asking for, He is holding back. But in reality, He is leading you to something better, something that, if you could see the full picture, you would choose for yourself.
God’s will is not about taking away your dreams or forcing you into something you do not want. It is about shaping your desires to align with His. When you delight in Him, your heart begins to shift. What once felt like a sacrifice now feels like wisdom. What once seemed like a loss now feels like gain. The things you once chased after begin to pale in comparison to what He has planned.
The struggle comes when you cling to what you think will make you happy, refusing to trust that God knows better. But true peace comes when you realize that His will and your ultimate joy are not at odds. They are the same. When you align yourself with Him, you will not just accept His plans, you will want them.
Maybe the thing you are fighting so hard for is not really what you want most. Maybe what feels like disappointment is actually protection. Maybe the dream you are afraid to let go of is blocking the one you were meant for. When you trust that God’s will is not only right but also best, you stop settling for what is good and start stepping into what is greater.
