Think Before You Act
"The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it." - Proverbs 27:12
Regret is a heavy burden to carry. It sneaks up on you when you least expect it, reminding you of the moments you wish you could take back. But while God’s grace covers your past mistakes, you do not have to keep adding to them. One of the best ways to live without regret is to think before you act.
Every choice you make has consequences. Some lead to joy and peace, while others bring pain and regret. Many of the biggest regrets people carry did not happen by accident. They started with a choice. One that seemed small in the moment but led to something bigger than they expected. That is why wisdom calls you to slow down and consider the weight of your actions before you make them.
Think about your words before you speak them. Once they leave your mouth, you cannot take them back. Think about your choices before you make them. One moment of compromise can lead to a lifetime of consequences. Think about the company you keep, the habits you develop, and the roads you take, because every decision is leading you somewhere.
The Bible is full of people who acted before they thought and paid the price. Esau traded his birthright for a meal because he was focused on the moment instead of the future. Samson allowed his desires to control him and lost his strength. David, in a moment of weakness, chose sin over wisdom and spent years dealing with the fallout. Each of them could have avoided deep regret if they had stopped to consider what was at stake.
God’s grace is big enough to cover your past, but He also gives you wisdom to guard your future. You do not have to live burdened by regret if you seek Him first in your decisions. Before you speak, act, or step into something that could alter your life, ask yourself: Will I be proud of this choice tomorrow? Will this bring me closer to God or pull me away? Will this build my future or break it?
You cannot change yesterday, but you can make better choices today. Wisdom is a gift, and if you use it, you can walk forward with confidence, free from the weight of unnecessary regrets.
