Seeing Jesus for Yourself
"Simeon took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, 'Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation.'" - Luke 2:28-30
Life can get overwhelming with all its responsibilities and distractions. It’s easy to go through the motions, checking off to-do lists and attending events, but sometimes we forget the most important thing: encountering Jesus personally.
Simeon’s experience in the Bible shows us the kind of deep, life-changing encounter with Christ that we should all be seeking. For Simeon, it wasn’t enough to just know about the Messiah. He longed to see Him with his own eyes, to experience the fulfillment of his deepest hope. And when that moment came, it was a moment of overwhelming joy and peace.
God wants that kind of encounter with us, too. He wants us to experience the joy of our hopes realized, our dreams fulfilled, and our lives transformed by encountering Jesus in a real and personal way. This isn’t about simply going to church or checking off a spiritual to-do list. It’s about being changed by a direct, powerful experience with Christ. Simeon had been waiting for a long time to meet the Messiah, and when he finally did, he knew his life would never be the same. He was ready for that moment because he had kept his heart open and his faith alive.
In the busyness of daily life, it’s easy to overlook the opportunity to truly see Jesus. This isn't about simply knowing facts or hearing stories about Him. It’s about allowing Him to move in your heart and change your life. That’s what it means to truly see Jesus, not just in a superficial way, but in a life-altering, undeniable way.
What does it mean for you to see Jesus for yourself? It’s about more than answers to prayers; it’s about experiencing His presence in a way that changes everything. When we truly see Jesus, our lives are transformed, and we can say, just like Simeon, "My eyes have seen your salvation." That is the most powerful experience we can have. It’s the gift that surpasses everything else.
