Stewarding Your Body
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.” - 1 Corinthians 6:19
We’ve all heard the phrase that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, but what does that truly mean? Often, we interpret it as a call to avoid sin, but there's an even deeper message here. Being a good steward of our bodies is about more than just avoiding things that harm us. It’s about taking care of the body God has given us so that we can do all He has called us to do.
The truth is your body is not just a vessel for your soul. It is the very thing God has chosen to use to fulfill His purpose in your life. When we neglect our health, we limit what we can do for God. If our bodies are weak, tired, or broken, we’re not in the best position to serve, love others, or pursue God’s calling. In the same way we take care of our finances, relationships, and other responsibilities, we must also prioritize the health of our bodies.
Being a good steward means more than just protecting yourself from harm. It means actively maintaining your health so you can live out your purpose with energy and strength. Don’t let your body be the limiting factor in what God wants to do through you. He has a plan for you, and the best way to fulfill that plan is to honor Him with the way you care for the body He’s entrusted to you. This means eating well, exercising, resting when needed, and making wise choices that support your overall well-being.
Take a moment to evaluate how you are caring for the body God has given you. Are you treating it as a temple that honors Him, or are you neglecting it? Remember, when you are healthy, you are better equipped to live out the purpose God has for you. Be a good steward of your body, and let it be a vessel that carries you to all He has called you to do.
