Next-Level Faith Requires Perseverance
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." - James 1:2-4
Have you ever felt like your faith has hit a plateau? Maybe the passion you once had for God has faded. You don’t pray like you used to, your time in the Word feels distant, or you’ve lost the fire you once carried in your walk with Him. Dry seasons happen, and when they do, it’s easy to feel stuck, wondering, what do I do now?
Abram reached a similar point. Thirteen years had passed since he last heard from God, and nothing seemed to be happening. The promise still hadn’t come, and it would’ve been easy for him to give up, to walk away from his faith, or let it stagnate. But here’s what’s remarkable: Abram stayed with God.
That’s what next-level faith looks like—faith that perseveres even in silence, faith that holds on when it feels like nothing is changing. Immature faith shows up only when God is actively moving or blessing. Mature faith stays rooted, trusting in God’s character even when He feels distant.
If you’re feeling stuck in a dry season, what you do next will determine whether your faith declines or reaches the next level. God often uses these moments to grow and refine us, to prepare us for where He’s taking us. But to move forward, you have to pivot. You have to do something different.
Pivoting in your faith might look like recommitting to daily prayer, even when it feels difficult. It might mean stepping out in obedience to something God has been prompting you to do, even if you don’t have all the answers. It might mean reigniting your passion for worship, diving deeper into His Word, or seeking fellowship with other believers.
If you’re in a dry season, don’t give up. Stay with God. Trust that where He’s leading you requires the faith you’re building now. Pivot toward Him and let Him take you to the next level.
