The Power of Being Real
"Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out." - Proverbs 10:9
In today’s world, people work hard to present an image. Social media is filled with carefully curated pictures, polished captions, and profiles that make people look better than they really are. This is why so many get deceived by “catfish” profiles or images that do not match reality. The problem is not just in dating. It happens in life, in business, and even in faith.
Jesus spoke about this when He cursed the fig tree that had leaves but no fruit. It looked the part but produced nothing. It was guilty of false advertisement. That is what happens when style replaces substance. People may appear committed, responsible, or generous, but if their actions do not match their words, their credibility crumbles.
The psalmist describes God as being known in Judah and great in Israel. This is important because, after Solomon’s reign, the kingdom was divided. Judah was in the south, and Israel was in the north. The message here is that God’s character remained the same, no matter where He was. He did not change based on His audience. His greatness was consistent.
That is what true success looks like: being the same person wherever you go. It is easy to act one way at church and another way at work. It is tempting to be one person in public and another in private. But real success is when who you say you are matches how you live.
Your reputation is not built on what you say about yourself. It is built on how you live. Are you the same person behind closed doors as you are in public? Are you consistent in your faith, your values, and your commitments? Do not settle for looking the part. Be the real thing. The blessings that come from integrity are greater than anything false advertisement could ever offer.
