Hold On
"Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him." - James 1:12
Perseverance is not about having an easy path. It is about holding on when everything in you wants to let go. Henry Dempsey learned this lesson in the most extreme way. When he was thrown from his plane at 4,000 feet, he had two choices. Let go and fall to certain death, or hold on with everything he had. He held on. For ten minutes, at 200 miles per hour, he refused to let go. When the plane landed, it took several people just to pry his hands from the ladder.
That is what perseverance looks like. It is hanging on when life tries to shake you loose. It is refusing to let go of faith when trials make it easier to walk away. It is holding fast to God when doubt, fear, and hardship threaten to rip you from His promises.
James 1:12 reminds you that there is a reward for those who remain steadfast. The blessing does not come from having an easy life. It comes from enduring through the hard seasons. Perseverance is not just about effort. It is about endurance. It is what you do after you have already given your best and still have more to push through.
What are you holding on to right now? Maybe life has thrown you into a storm you never saw coming. Maybe you feel like you are barely hanging on, with nothing left to give. Do not let go. God sees you. He knows the strength it takes to keep holding on. And He will not let you fall.
Perseverance is not about feeling strong every moment. It is about refusing to let go even when you feel weak. Keep holding on. Keep pressing forward. The test you are facing will not last forever. But the strength you build in the process will stay with you long after the storm has passed.
