Patience Through Prayer
"But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." - Romans 8:25
Waiting is never easy. Whether you're waiting for a job, a relationship, a breakthrough, or any promise God has given you, that waiting period often feels like the hardest part. God has a purpose in the waiting, but in those moments, our patience can wear thin. Without prayer, our patience often fades, and we’re left either trying to force things to happen on our own or giving up altogether. But God calls us to wait with patience, and that patience can only be sustained through prayer.
When we try to rely on our own strength, we quickly realize how little patience we truly have. Left to our own devices, we’ll either take matters into our own hands or become frustrated with the process. We might try to rush ahead, making decisions based on our own timelines rather than God’s. But both of these responses miss the point of the waiting season. God has a plan for us, and that plan unfolds in His timing, not ours.
Patience is not something we can manufacture on our own. It's a fruit of the Spirit, a result of being grounded in prayer. Prayer aligns our hearts with God's will and gives us the strength to wait without giving up or taking matters into our own hands. Through prayer, we’re reminded that God is in control, that He is working behind the scenes, and that His timing is perfect. When we stay connected to God through prayer, we gain the patience we need to trust Him as He works in our lives.
God calls us to wait patiently, not because He is slow in keeping His promises, but because He is preparing us for what He has in store. Our patience grows as we pray and seek His will. The more we pray, the more we’re reminded of His faithfulness, and the more we’re able to trust His timing.
If you’re feeling impatient as you wait for God to fulfill His promise, take a moment to pray. Ask God to give you the patience you need to wait well. Trust that He is working and that your patience will be strengthened as you stay grounded in prayer. In the end, your waiting will not be in vain. As you wait in prayer, God will build your patience and strengthen your trust in Him.
