Empowered by the Holy Spirit
"In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory." - Ephesians 1:13-14
The Holy Spirit, often misunderstood and sometimes reduced to mere emotions or outward expressions, plays a pivotal role in the life of every believer. In Ephesians 1:13-14, the apostle Paul underscores three crucial blessings the Holy Spirit brings into our lives: sealing, guarantee, and purpose.
When we accepted Christ as our Savior, we were sealed with the Holy Spirit. This seal signifies our belonging to God—marked and secured for His purposes. Just as an ancient seal on a document indicated ownership and authenticity, the Holy Spirit marks us as God's own, ensuring our identity and protection in Him.
The Holy Spirit serves as a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance in Christ. This inheritance is not merely material or temporal but eternal—a promise of eternal life and fellowship with God. The Spirit within us is a foretaste, a down payment, assuring us that what God has promised, He will fulfill. It's a reassurance that our future in God's kingdom is secure.
The presence of the Holy Spirit empowers us to live out God's purposes in our lives. We are not left to navigate life's challenges or fulfill God's calling on our own strength. Instead, we are infused with divine power—the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, to be effective witnesses for Christ, to thrive in our faith, and to impact our families and communities for His glory.
So, why do we have this power? It's because God, through His Holy Spirit, has equipped us with everything we need to live according to His will. As we yield to His leading, He enables us to step into the fullness of our identity and purpose in Christ.
Are you leaning on His power and guidance? Are you allowing Him to seal you as God's own and assure you of your eternal inheritance? Let's embrace the Holy Spirit's work in us, yielding to His transformative power, and living as effective witnesses for Christ.
