Unblended
"But if Christ is in you, then the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you. So then, brothers and sisters, we are obligated, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh—for if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." - Romans 8:10-13
If you want to live a Spirit-led life, you are going to have to “unblend” from your woundedness. In Romans 8:10-13, Paul shares a profound truth: "If Christ is in you, then the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness." This means that no matter the pain, trauma, or strongholds we've experienced, we have the capacity to separate from the wounds and maladaptive habits we've grown accustomed to. The phrase "put to death the deeds of the body" literally means "to separate from."
What you’ve gone through may have scarred you, but you can still heal. Healing allows us to separate from intense emotions and respond with a new perspective. You might still get triggered, but you’ll be able to slow down, notice, and understand the part of you that’s reacting. Before, you might have shut down, lashed out, or run away. Now, with the Spirit's help, you can observe and choose a different response.
For many Christians, God seems distant, far away in the heavens. We believe in God, we love Him, but He doesn’t seem close enough to touch. However, when you walk in the Spirit, God gives you a new view and perspective, making Him feel nearer and more present in your life. To experience this, you need to start unblending your core self from your hindered parts.
Let Jesus take the wheel. There can only be one person in the driver’s seat, and that person needs to be Jesus. By allowing Him to lead, you unblend from your past wounds and habits, opening up a new way of living where God is intimately close and involved in every aspect of your life.
