Confidence in Christ
"We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying around in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies." - 2 Corinthians 4:8-10
In the face of disappointment, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and defeated. But as followers of Christ, we are called to a different response. We are called to find our confidence not in our circumstances, but in the unchanging power of our Savior.
Leah, despite facing rejection and unfulfilled desires, maintained her standards and self-worth. Instead of wallowing in self-pity or seeking validation from others, she turned her focus to the Lord's favor. In doing so, Leah discovered a profound truth: true confidence is found in Jesus Christ.
The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 that although we may face trials and tribulations, we are not crushed or driven to despair. Our confidence lies not in our own strength or abilities, but in the unwavering faithfulness of God. He is our refuge and strength, a present help in times of trouble.
When disappointment threatens to shake our confidence, let us remember the words of Paul and the example of Leah. Instead of seeking validation from the world, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. He is the one who sustains us through every trial and empowers us to rise above our circumstances.
My friend, in the midst of disappointment, do not lose heart. Instead, draw near to Christ, knowing that in Him we find the strength, courage, and confidence we need to face whatever lies ahead. Shift your focus from your own disappointments to the power and faithfulness of your Savior, for in Him, you will find true confidence that never wavers.
