Follow the Light
"...and asked, 'Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.'" - Matthew 2:2
Have you ever found yourself in a dark and unfamiliar place, unsure of which way to turn? It's in these moments that we often yearn for even the faintest glimmer of light to guide us to safety. Just like the story of two young girls who got lost in the forest, their escape came when one of them spotted a distant light and decided to follow it.
Now, consider the story of the Wise Men in Matthew chapter 2. They went on a journey in pursuit of a new King whose star had risen. These scholars from the East saw a unique light, and they were determined to follow it, though they didn't fully comprehend where it would lead. They had faith that the light they witnessed was a sign of something extraordinary, and they were not disappointed.
In the same way, life often leads us into unfamiliar territory, with unforeseen challenges and uncertainty. The circumstances may darken our path, leaving us disoriented and overwhelmed. During these times, it's crucial to keep our eyes open for the guiding star—God's light in our lives. The Wise Men were not led by mere curiosity but by faith in the divine direction of the star, which eventually led them to Jesus.
In our own journeys, when the way ahead is obscured, and we find ourselves in the midst of darkness, God's light will guide us if we let it. It may not always be a literal star in the sky, but it can manifest in various forms: a reassuring word from a friend, a Bible verse, or a deep inner conviction. These are the beacons that light our way in difficult times.
The story of the Wise Men teaches us a valuable lesson about following God's guidance, even when we don't fully understand where it's leading us. Like the Wise Men, our faith should drive us to seek and follow the divine light that God provides. When we do, we will find ourselves on a path that leads to the presence of Christ, our Savior.
So, I encourage you to keep your spiritual eyes open and watch for that guiding light in your life, especially when the road seems dark and unfamiliar. Follow it with faith and unwavering trust, knowing that it will lead you to the destination that God has prepared for you.
Just as the Wise Men's journey ended in the presence of the newborn King, our faith-filled journey will lead us closer to Jesus and the abundant life He offers. Continue to follow the light, even in the midst of life's uncertainties.
