The Promise of God's Presence
"So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us." – Hebrews 6:16-18
In a world filled with uncertainties and shifting circumstances, there is one promise that remains unchangeable—the promise of God's presence. Hebrews 6:16-18 speaks of God's unchanging character and the assurance we find in His promises. Among these promises, the assurance of His presence stands as a beacon of hope for every believer.
God's presence is not a fleeting emotion or a mere concept. It is a reality that accompanies us in every moment of our lives. When the storms of life rage around us, God's presence is our refuge, our sanctuary, and our unshakeable anchor. It is the assurance of His presence that provides us with strong encouragement and hope.
The writer of Hebrews highlights the unchangeable character of God's purpose. When God makes a promise, it is not a casual commitment; it is a covenant sealed with His unbreakable oath. This promise extends to us, His heirs, as we navigate the trials and tribulations of life. We find refuge in God's presence, a safe haven where we can rest, find solace, and draw strength.
God's presence is not a distant or indifferent existence. It is an intimate companionship, a constant reminder of His unfailing love and faithfulness. When we face challenges, doubts, and uncertainties, we can hold fast to the hope set before us because we are not alone. The promise of God's presence assures us that He is with us in every circumstance, guiding, comforting, and strengthening us.
In a world that often tries to rob us of our hope, God's presence is our unwavering source of encouragement. It reminds us that we serve a God who cannot lie, a God whose promises are as true today as they were when they were first spoken. This truth gives us the strength to press forward, to endure, and to keep our eyes fixed on the hope set before us.
God's presence is not only a promise for the future; it is a present reality. It is a daily source of strength and a constant companion in our journey of faith. As heirs of this promise, we have the privilege of experiencing the unchanging character of God's purpose in our lives.
