Lift Each Other Up
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:11
The Bible is filled with examples of people who lifted up those around them. One of the most notable examples is Barnabas. In Acts 4:36-37, we learn that Barnabas sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles to be used for the needs of the early church.
But Barnabas didn't stop there. In Acts 9:26-27, we read that Barnabas took Saul, a former persecutor of Christians, under his wing and vouched for him to the apostles. He lifted up Saul and helped him to become the great apostle Paul that we know today.
Barnabas' example teaches us that we should be willing to help others and lift them up. We should encourage those who are struggling, support those who need help, and be a positive influence in the lives of those around us. As Christians, we are called to be the light of the world and to make a difference in the lives of those around us. We are called to be a shining example of Christ's love and grace.
Sometimes, it's easy to get caught up in our own problems and forget about the needs of others. But when we take the time to lift others up, we not only help them, but we also benefit ourselves. When we encourage others, we find encouragement in return. When we help others, we feel a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
As we go about our daily lives, let us be mindful of those around us who may need a lift. Let us be quick to encourage, support, and help. Let us be the kind of people who build each other up and make a positive difference in the lives of those around us. In doing so, we will be fulfilling our calling as Christians and living out the example of Barnabas and other biblical figures who lifted those up around them.
Let us remember the words of 1 Thessalonians 5:11, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
