The Greatest Comeback of All Time
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.’” - John 11:25
Perhaps the biggest debate in professional athletics is who is the G.O.A.T. or the greatest of all time. Is it Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods, or Tom Brady? The list goes on and on.
And to determine the greatest, commentators look at things like points scored, championships won, or how many statistical categories a person holds the number one spot. But recently I heard a pundit say that, in his opinion, the distinction should go to the person who engineered the greatest comeback.
For him, comebacks provided the most memorable moments in an athlete’s career and left the most indelible mark for the public to remember. Therefore, should we be asking ourselves what is the greatest comeback of all time?
Was it Muhammad Ali beating Joe Frazier? Was it Tiger Woods coming back to win the Masters in 2017? Was it Tom Brady coming back after being down 28-3 in the Super Bowl against the Atlanta Falcons?
There have been countless times when teams, athletes, and, for that matter, ordinary people who were faced with limitations and obstacles, overcame them. But of all the comebacks regarded in history, from sports to business to politics, there can be no mistaking the fact there is one comeback that without question is the greatest of them all.
No, it wasn’t on the gridiron, at the Masters, or in a boxing ring. It was on a hilltop called Calvary. It was there I believe the world witnessed what was then and what has been ever since the greatest comeback of all time.
That is Jesus Christ raising up from death and coming back to life! Jesus Christ orchestrated the greatest comeback in the history of the world. And there is no event in history more memorable and more life-changing.
Have you experienced this life change? Have you given your life to Christ? No matter who you are a fan of in the sports world, none compare to Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross. Jesus Christ is the Greatest of All Time!
