You Are Soothed
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”- John 14:27
When you give your life to God, He assumes responsibility for your needs. You can find a peace that the world didn’t give, and the world can’t take away.
Just as a child needs an adult to show up in their life, God will show up for you. And when He does, He takes care of four major needs in our lives. We have already discussed two of those needs: feeling safe and feeling seen. But God will also allow you to feel soothed.
What does it mean to be soothed? It means to be gently calmed or for one’s pain or discomfort to be reduced. The Lord will calm your spirit. John 14:27 reminds us, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”
God does not give you a spirit of fear or anxiety. These feelings are not from Him. So, what is the cure? HE IS! When you turn to God, He will soothe you.
This does not always mean God will change your circumstances. Sometimes God allows us to go through things because He wants us to learn and grow from them. But even in those tough times, God can still soothe us and calm our worries and fears. Remember, He is in complete control. There is nothing that happens in your life that surprises God.
He knows exactly what is going on. He sees you. He protects you. And even though what you will go through will not always be easy, He will continue to show up for you. He will ease the worries in your heart by shifting your mindset from the negative to the positive. Isn’t it great to be on God’s team?
