Talk to a Specialist
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and He prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.” - John 15:1-2
Are you experiencing a disruption in your spiritual life? Yesterday, we discussed how God is our “digital connection.” The same urgency we place on making sure we have the connection we need to run the technology for our day-to-day lives is the urgency and priority we should place on our walk with God.
But maybe you are in a place where you are struggling to hear or obey what God is saying. You can’t put your finger on exactly what’s happening, but you know that something is off. The connection is weak, and you’re not as fruitful as God wants you to be. And when that happens, connection is key.
Whenever there is an issue with your connection with God, it’s best to talk to a specialist. Jesus notes in John 15 that while He is the vine, His Father is the gardener. The vinedresser or the vine grower is the one responsible for planting the seed that produced the vine in the first place.
And the gardener also has special expertise and experience in horticulture to ensure that good fruit is produced. And so, whenever there is an issue with the fruit, one must talk to the gardener.
Imagine someone trying to grow grapes without seeking the advice and assistance of someone who is trained in that area. And whenever they try to handle the problems themselves, problems beyond their expertise, they end up making things worse rather than better.
Now, that someone is you. If you are trying to go about life without talking to the specialist, without talking to your heavenly Father, it will be hard to always make the right decisions. We need the wisdom and guidance God offers us. But to do that, we must stay in constant communication with Him.
Whenever you are struggling with a connection, struggling to obey or hear what Jesus is saying, talk to the specialist. Go to God in prayer and ask Him to speak to you. He will answer that request and speak to you in exactly the way you need.
