Don’t Wait to Be Understood
“Am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” – Galatians 1:10
There’s a strange pattern we tend to fall into. We ignore or reject voices in the moment only to celebrate them after they’re gone. We dismiss truth when it feels inconvenient, but honor it in hindsight when it no longer challenges us.
This happens far too often in the Christian life. God may call someone to speak boldly, to lead courageously, to step out in faith, or to take a stand for something that aligns with His Word. And yet, in the moment, those people are often misunderstood, ignored, or criticized.
Maybe you know what that feels like. You’ve tried to follow God and do what’s right, but it hasn’t been easy. Others haven’t supported you. You’ve been met with resistance instead of encouragement.
The truth is that obedience does not always lead to applause. Sometimes it leads to confusion, frustration, or even isolation. But if you’re living to please God, you cannot be shaken by the opinions of others. When you know you are following Jesus, even if others do not understand right away, you can still walk with peace and purpose.
Some of the greatest legacies ever lived were not celebrated until long after the person was gone. But those individuals did not live for recognition. They lived for something deeper. They lived for God’s glory and for the impact their faithfulness would have on others.
You do not need the world to understand your purpose before you walk in it. You do not need everyone to cheer for you before you do what is right. You just need to trust that when you follow God, He sees, He knows, and He honors obedience in due time.
Don’t wait for permission to live boldly. Do not water down the message God put in your heart just to make it more palatable. Speak truth. Love well. Follow Jesus fully. And trust that even if others do not see it yet, your obedience is never in vain.
