Courage Over Comfort
“If you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” – Esther 4:14
Sometimes the biggest threat to living out God’s purpose for your life is not fear or failure. It is comfort.
Esther had made it. She had gone from being unknown and overlooked to living in the palace. She had status. She had luxury. But when the moment came for her to speak up, to stand for her people and take a risk, she hesitated. She had a lot to lose. Comfort can do that to us. It whispers that we should protect what we have instead of risking it for something bigger.
But Mordecai reminded her of something important. Just because she was comfortable did not mean she was safe. Just because she had influence did not mean she was exempt. And if she stayed silent, she would miss the reason she had been placed in that position to begin with.
You were not put in your position just to enjoy it. You were put there for a purpose. Maybe it is not a palace, but the job you have, the relationships you carry, the platform you’ve been given, the life you are living. Maybe God has placed you there for something more.
If you wait for everything to be perfect, if you keep pushing off the prompting in your heart, if you let comfort keep you quiet, you might miss what you were created for. Esther had to decide if she would stay safe or step into purpose. And so do you. Will you put comfort first or courage first? Will you play it safe or trust God with the risk?
You are not where you are by accident. You are not called just to coast. There are people depending on your obedience. There is purpose waiting on your “yes.” And you may find that the breakthrough does not come when you protect your comfort, but when you live with courage.
