Reach Beyond The Risk
“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” - Hebrews 11:1
If you want to seize your opportunity and do what God has called you to do, there will be moments where you are tested. And in these moments, you might have fear. But you must reach beyond the risk. We see this in Mark 5 when the woman who had suffered for 12 years reaches out to touch Jesus’ garment.
Upon touching Him, she was healed. But that did not come without risk or fear first. A lot of times, commentators talk about the touch in the text, the power of her touching the hem of Jesus’ garment. But what I like is the reach. She had to reach before she could touch.
The woman didn’t know if this would work out. But faith prompted her to reach out to Jesus even when she didn’t have all the answers. That confirms what Scripture says. The Bible says, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see” (Hebrews 11:1).
The faith necessary to seize the moment does not always come with all of the answers. The end result is unclear. We don’t see the full picture. The woman had tried doctors but now it was time to try Jesus. It was not enough just to show up. If she was going to be healed, she had to take action. She could not just keep waiting. She had to do something.
Jesus had the power, but she had to take the risk. Does this sound familiar? Is there something that you know Jesus can do in your life, but first, you must take action? I promise my friend, the risk is worth it. God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or think. But first, you must reach beyond the risk!
