Will You Miss Your Moment?
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. - Ephesians 3:20
Genesis 19 tells us about Lot’s wife. As we reviewed yesterday, this was a woman whose name was not even identified in the Bible. She was simply known for the struggles she had rather than the good she had done. To her demise, she was ultimately found in the middle of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Genesis 19:26 says, “But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.” It is a sad picture of what very likely could have been a loving and wonderful woman. But instead, she missed her moment. She missed a great opportunity at pursuing a fresh start and a new future.
The past few days, we have spent time talking about “letting it go.” When you hear the phrase “let it go,” it is likely that something specific comes to mind for you. Whether it is a toxic relationship, a horrible habit, or a seemingly unbreakable addiction, you know that your life would be better if you could just let it go. But you still just can’t seem to release the tight grip you have on it.
However, when you decide to hold on, you risk missing your moment. God has a destiny designed specifically for you. He made you unique, to be someone no one else can be. He made you to do things no one else can do. But when you decide to ignore His call to let go, you are choosing to risk missing out on your moment (or moments) of greatness.
God can do immeasurably more through you than anything you could possibly imagine. But He must know you are on board. And part of being on board is letting go of what can’t come with you in your next phase of growth. That addiction, that nasty habit, that toxic relationship, it can’t come with you. God needs you to let it go so He can take you places beyond your wildest dreams.
Your moment was predestined by God Himself. Will you let go so you can find it? Or will you continue to hold on and miss your moment?
