Anxieties Addressed
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 4:6-7
We have spent time the past few days talking about what happens when you open the door and let God in. When you do, not only will your spirit be lifted, your vision restored, and your worship renewed, but you will see your anxieties addressed. We live in a day and age when mental health is a real concern. So many people, including many at young ages, deal with serious forms of anxiety.
But we see in Genesis 18 that the Lord addressed the anxieties Abraham and Sarah had been feeling regarding the birth of a child. God, through the three messengers in verse 10, tells Abraham and Sarah that by this time next year, the promise of a child will come to pass. Here God shows us how He calms our fears and eases our anxieties. It is an example that supports Jesus’ infamous words when He said, “come unto me all who are weak and heavy ladened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
God wants you to know that the thing you have been waiting for is about to come to pass. It is on its way. The miracle, the healing, the deliverance, the breakthrough, it is on its way. And when God does it, He will blow your mind. But you have to trust that He will come through. The Bible says Sarah laughs because she is unclear how God could do the impossible in the lives of two people of their age. This was a response sprinkled with doubt and disbelief.
They had already been waiting over 2 decades for this to happen, and nothing happened. She laughs now, as Abraham does in the prior chapter because they are so close to giving up on the promise. This response was unique because it was not disbelief that God could not do it, it was disbelief that He would.
Is that where you find yourself today? You know God can work in your situation, but you question if He will. Like Abraham and Sarah, God is fully prepared to address your anxieties. If you are reading this, He wants to take those away, TODAY. He wants you to know that what you are waiting for is on its way. It will be done, and when He does it, it will blow your mind.
