A New Vision
“The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.” - Genesis 18:1-2
When God shows up in your life, things change. There is no doubt about that. He is a life-changing God. Yesterday, we talked about how when God shows up, your spirit is lifted. Genesis 18 shows us how God lifted Abraham’s spirit and raised his countenance when Jesus walked into his tent.
But the story does not stop there. After God lifts your spirit, He will give you a new vision. When Abraham “looked up” (v. 2), he saw something he had never seen before—three men, three beings, some commentators even say three angels standing near him. They were there all along, but he did not see them because he was looking down. But as soon as he looked up, he sees something he had never seen before.
Child of God, you need to decide that you are going to get your head out of the sand. You need to make up your mind that you are going to quit moping and whining, stop murmuring and complaining, and just look up. When you take these steps, you are bound to see something you have never seen before.
How are you going to go somewhere you have never been if you only see what you have always seen? Trust me, if you look up, a breakthrough is possible. Even though you have tried and tried on your own to no success, there is still hope. When you let God walk into your home and change your world, He will not only lift your spirit, giving you hope, but He will also give you the vision you need to get where you are trying to go.
Whether it is a dream God has given you, a relationship you want to restore, or a change you know needs to be made, there is a way. And when He steps in, He will give you the vision to take you exactly where you need to go. Look up and dare to see what you have never seen before!
