Help! It’s Okay To Ask
“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distresses. He caused the storm to be still, so that the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad because they were quiet, so he guided them to their desired haven.” - Psalm 107:28-30
Are you in the midst of a difficult situation right now? Life is filled with highs and lows. We love being on the mountain top, reaping the rewards and blessings God gives us. But the reality is that all of us must go through valleys. Our journey is cyclical. We are either coming out of a valley, currently in a valley, or preparing to enter a valley. What can become frustrating is feeling as though we will never find peace.
Are you in the valley right now? Perhaps you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Matthew 20 tells the story of two blind men who found themselves in that exact state. So how did they get out? They reached a point where they no longer were afraid to ask for help.
They weren’t the only blind men by the roadside who realized they needed something better out of life. Others were in the same position, but they were just too afraid to acknowledge to themselves and to admit publicly that there was something about their life that needed to change. Rather than dealing with and confronting their problem, they kept avoiding it, hoping it would just go away.
How many times have you been in the car with someone, and it was abundantly clear that they were lost but they did not want to ask for directions? So many peopl die prematurely because they won’t admit something is wrong and go see a doctor. These blind men are an example of what happens when you let go of the ego, fear, and shame, and just ask for help for your situation.
Perhaps you are in a tough season of life right now. Maybe you are struggling and you just don’t see a way out. God wants to help you. Asking God for help will begin the process of your healing.
