Too Much Analyzing

“But someone will say, ‘you have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.” - James 2:18
 
 
Faith, according to Hebrews 11, is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about that which we have not yet seen. There is a common phrase, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” But when it comes to faith, you have to believe it before you receive it. This is why faith is so difficult.  
 
Abram knew God was going to give him the land He had promised, but God allowed his faith to be tested when Lot was taken captive. This challenged Abram’s faith and forced him to put that faith into action by fighting back. When this happened, Abram did not become critical. He did not blame himself for allowing this to happen. He did not blame Lot for being irresponsible, and he didn’t blame society for letting the community down.  
 
Abram did not become overcome with anger or overwhelmed by hypothetical scenarios about what should have happened or what would have happened “if only.” And not only does he not become critical, but he also doesn’t become bitter. Instead, he does everything in his power to get Lot back.
 
Sometimes when the enemy has attacked our lives, we get stuck in the paralysis of analysis trying to figure out why things happened the way they did. Oftentimes we want to know, not so that we can learn from the situation, but so that we can find someone to blame. Sometimes we can spend so much time analyzing the problem that we do not do anything to solve the problem.
 
When Satan has distracted you, he is doing what he planned. He wants to keep you from following God’s will and claiming God’s promises. We can talk about the type of faith we have all we want, but faith shows itself in action.  
 
When you are tempted to give up, remember that God will not give up on you. It’s time to trust God and with on Him to move.
