Waiting For Your Promise
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. – Ecclesiastes 3:1
Recently I was watching the animal channel and the narrator of the show was talking about the amount of time it takes for different species of animals to give birth.
It takes some small insects only about five days to go from conceiving to giving birth. It takes a rabbit and squirrels one to two months to give birth. It takes human beings 9 months to give birth, but it takes an elephant 22 months to give birth.
The difference between the birthing periods of insects, rabbits/squirrels, humans, and elephants is dependent on the size of what they are giving birth to. In a way, this observation we take from creation applies to the different periods of time it takes for God to fulfill His promises in the lives of each of his children.
You may see other people around you give birth to their promises, but always remember that God is preparing to birth something that is uniquely for you. Not everyone’s path looks exactly the same. Our lives don’t look the same. Our circumstances don’t look the same. We are all walking down unique roads that the Lord has ordained for each of us to walk. Therefore, we can’t expect all of God’s promises to unfold in the same way and in the same timing for every single one of His children. Instead, we must understand that He works differently and uniquely in each of us, and His promises will come to pass when He sees fit.
So if you’re seeing someone around you receive their promise while you’re still waiting on yours, don’t get discouraged. Instead, trust the timing of your Heavenly Father, and hold fast to the promises He makes in His Word, believing that they will come to pass in whatever timing is best for your unique set of circumstances.
