Reclaiming a Healthy View of Sex
"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."- John 8:36
We can criticize and protest the way certain music and media portray sex and sexuality, but if we don’t provide a safe space for honest conversations about these topics, we’re setting future generations up for confusion and struggle. It’s crucial to create environments where people, especially young people, can talk openly about their sexual selves without fear of judgment or shame.
Imagine a world where kids grow up without anyone to talk to about their questions, desires, or confusions regarding sex. They’re left to navigate these complex feelings on their own, often turning to unhealthy sources for answers. This can lead to distorted views, unhealthy habits, and struggles with sexual addiction. It’s as if we’ve handed over a vital part of our humanity to confusion and secrecy.
This does not mean we need to sensationalize the topic or stir up controversy. It’s about recognizing that many people are hurting and struggling in silence. We need to bring conversations about sexuality out of the shadows and into the light. God created us with a full range of human experiences and desires, and He wants us to embrace and understand these aspects of ourselves in a healthy and honorable way.
I’m passionate about this because I see the impact of silence and secrecy. People are suffering because they feel ashamed of their thoughts, desires, or questions. Marriages are strained, and individuals are wrestling with self-image issues behind closed doors. To change this, we need to reclaim our understanding of sex and sexuality. We must offer support, guidance, and a space where people can seek help and find freedom from guilt and shame.
It’s time to break free from the constraints of outdated views and distorted beliefs. Let’s create environments where everyone feels safe to explore and understand their sexuality in a way that honors God and respects themselves. By doing this, we can help people move from hidden struggles to healthy, open conversations, and ultimately, to a more fulfilling and liberated life in a way that honors God and is in obedience to His commands.
