Reconciled Through Christ
"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace," - Ephesians 1:7
God's blessings through His Son, Jesus Christ, extend beyond redemption—they include reconciliation. Ephesians 1:7 assures us that "in Him we have...the forgiveness of our trespasses." When Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross, He not only paid the price for our sins but also restored our relationship with God.
Imagine reconciliation like balancing a checkbook. When the numbers don't add up, you don't ignore the discrepancy; you work to find and correct the error. In a similar way, sin creates a rift between us and God—an imbalance that only Jesus can rectify. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus reconciles us to God, bridging the gap caused by sin and restoring our relationship with Him.
Paul underscores this in Romans 5:10: "For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life." This reconciliation isn't just a one-time event; it's ongoing, ensuring our salvation and eternal connection with God.
Despite our past mistakes and sins, God offers us forgiveness. He doesn't hold our offenses against us but, through Christ, casts them into the sea of forgetfulness. Our slate is wiped clean, and we are welcomed back into God's family with open arms.
Imagine a debt you owed that was insurmountable. You couldn't pay it off, and it loomed over you. Then, someone steps in, pays the debt in full, and declares it forgiven. That's what Jesus did for us. He paid the debt of our sins, reconciling us to God and restoring us to a right standing with Him.
Aren’t you thankful that you are reconciled through Jesus Christ, today?
