Seek First the Kingdom of God
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." - Matthew 6:33
What does it mean to "seek first the kingdom of God"? It's a phrase we often hear, but its depth and significance can sometimes get lost in the outside noise. Yet, at its core, it's a call to prioritize God's kingdom above all else.
Seeking first the kingdom of God means making Him the focal point of our lives. It involves aligning our desires, decisions, and actions with His will and His purposes. It's about seeking His righteousness—the right way of living according to His standards—above our own desires and ambitions.
But how do we practically seek first the kingdom of God in our everyday lives?
Firstly, it requires seeking God in prayer and through His Word. Spending time in communion with Him, listening for His voice, and allowing His truth to shape our thoughts and actions.
Secondly, it involves living out the principles of God's kingdom in our relationships and interactions. Showing love, grace, and forgiveness to others, reflecting the character of Christ in all that we do.
Thirdly, it means surrendering our worries and anxieties to God, trusting Him to provide for our needs as we prioritize His kingdom. Instead of striving to secure our own desires, we trust in His provision and timing.
Seeking first the kingdom of God is not a one-time decision but a daily commitment. It's a deliberate choice to put God first in every area of our lives, trusting that as we do, He will take care of the rest.
So, let's make it our aim today and every day to seek first the kingdom of God. Let's pursue Him wholeheartedly, trusting that in doing so, we will experience His abundant blessings and find true fulfillment in Him.
