God's Nourishing Word
"God said, 'See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.'" - Genesis 1:29
When you look into the Scriptures, you quickly realize that God isn't just concerned about your spiritual well-being; He cares deeply about your physical health too.
Take a moment to ponder these verses: Proverbs 15:17 tells us, "Better is a dinner of vegetables where love is than a fatted ox and hatred with it." And in Ezekiel 4:9, God instructs, "And you, take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them into one vessel and make bread for yourself. During the number of days that you lie on your side, three hundred ninety days, you shall eat it."
What God is conveying here is important. If your body is a temple, then what you put into it is a spiritual act that genuinely matters to Him. Recently, Dr. Caroline Leaf emphasized in an interview that "our brain and our body are not designed for toxicity of any sort." When our minds, bodies, or spirits encounter anything toxic—be it a thought, an experience, or a substance—it poses a threat to our very survival. Inflammation, which arises as the body's response to toxicity, is something God understands well.
God isn't ignorant of the intimate connection between our physical and spiritual well-being. He knows that a healthier you can lead to a happier you. So, as you go throughout each day, remember that caring for your body isn't just about vanity or appearance; it's a profound spiritual practice. By nourishing yourself with wholesome foods and cultivating habits that promote wellness, you honor the temple that God has entrusted to you.
In your pursuit of health, remember that God is with you every step of the way, cheering you on toward a life filled with vitality and joy.
