God's Work in Us
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:2
In our journey of faith, we often sing the lyrics, "Please, be patient with me, God is not through with me yet…" These words, penned by James Cleveland, resonate deeply because they capture the essence of our ongoing transformation as believers. Just as salt makes a distinct difference in others, we, as salt, must also undergo change ourselves.
In our churches, we testify, "The things I used to do, I don’t do anymore; the things I used to say, I don’t say anymore; the places I used to go, I don’t go anymore…" These declarations reflect the reality of our transformed lives. We long for others to see the change that God has wrought within us.
Perhaps you can echo the sentiments of Tremaine Hawkins, singing, "A wonderful change has come over me, He changed my life, and now I’m free…" This is the testimony of every believer who has experienced the transformative power of God's love and grace.
But transformation is not a one-time event. It's an ongoing process, a journey of becoming more like Christ in every aspect of our lives. And just as salt must be carefully applied to bring out the flavor in food, so too must God's transformative work be carefully applied to our hearts and minds.
We must allow God to continue His work in us, shaping us, molding us, and refining us into vessels of honor. This requires humility, surrender, and a willingness to submit to His leadership. It means allowing Him to expose areas of our lives that need His healing touch and allowing Him to bring about the change that only He can bring.
Allow Him to continue the transformational work He has begun, knowing that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. And as we yield to His transformative power, our lives will become a testimony to His grace and love, bringing glory to His name.
