Finding Fulfillment in God's Acceptance
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:13-14
In our journey through life's disappointments and rejections, we often seek comfort and fulfillment in the wrong places, just like the woman who bought the parakeet we discussed yesterday. Despite her efforts to provide everything the bird supposedly needed to talk, it remained silent and eventually died from neglect.
Similarly, we invest our time, energy, and attention in pursuits that cannot satisfy our deepest longings. We may seek validation from others, hoping that their acceptance will bring us happiness and fulfillment. We pursue relationships, accomplishments, and possessions, believing they will provide the fulfillment we desire.
But like the parakeet, these pursuits often leave us empty and unsatisfied. We may spend years trying to earn the approval of others, only to find that it is fleeting and superficial. We may sacrifice our own well-being in pursuit of external validation, only to realize that true fulfillment comes from within.
Leah's story reminds us of this important truth. For years, she sought her husband's love and acceptance, hoping that bearing him children would win his affection. But after the birth of her fourth child, she experienced a shift in perspective. Instead of seeking validation from her husband, she turned her focus upward, recognizing that true acceptance comes from God.
Leah realized that while Jacob may not have loved her, God did. She found fulfillment in God's unconditional love and acceptance, rather than in the approval of others. In the same way, we can find true satisfaction by turning to God and embracing His love for us.
Do not waste your time and energy pursuing the approval of others. Instead, turn your heart toward God, who created us fearfully and wonderfully. Find your fulfillment in His love and acceptance, knowing that His love is everlasting and unwavering.
