Healing from Within
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:14
As believers, we often marvel at the intricate design of the human body, recognizing it as a testament to God's creativity and wisdom. From the complex network of nerves to the intricate workings of our organs, every part of our being reflects the meticulous craftsmanship of our Creator.
Indeed, when God fashioned us, He endowed us with a remarkable nervous system, a sophisticated network of neurons that spans from our brains to every corner of our bodies. This intricate system serves as a conduit for communication, transmitting messages that enable us to function and thrive. Moreover, God equipped our nervous system with the remarkable ability to record and store experiences, much like a computer's operating system.
From the moment of our birth, our nervous system diligently catalogs every encounter, conversation, sensation, and interaction, compiling a comprehensive record of our lived experiences. This record, encoded within the depths of our bodies, shapes our responses and behaviors, guiding us through life's myriad challenges and dangers.
Yet, alongside the memories of joy and triumph, our bodies also bear the weight of trauma and pain. Many of us carry within us the hidden scars of repressed anger, grief, and fear, unaware of the profound impact these experiences have on our well-being. Our nervous system, faithfully recording every moment of distress, stores these traumas deep within our bodies, silently influencing our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Indeed, the effects of trauma often manifest themselves in unexpected ways. A mere sight, sound, or smell reminiscent of past pain can trigger a visceral response, transporting us back to the moment of our initial trauma. For some, it may be the sight of a dog that evokes a sense of panic and dread, stirring memories of past encounters.
Yet, even in the midst of our pain and brokenness, there is hope. Just as God fearfully and wonderfully knit us together in our mother's womb, He is also the source of our healing and restoration. Through His grace and mercy, we can embark on a journey of inner healing, confronting the traumas stored within our bodies and allowing His transformative power to set us free.
Today, embrace the truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, trusting in God's promise to bring healing and wholeness to every part of your being.
