Making a Lasting Impact in the Community
Matthew 5:16 - "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."
As Christians, we are called to be the light in a dark world. This means that we are not only supposed to be salt and light to each other but also to those who do not know Jesus yet. One way we can make a lasting impact in our community is by serving those around us. When we serve, we show the love of Jesus to others, and we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who need it most.
There are many ways in which we can serve our community. We can serve at local soup kitchens, food banks, or homeless shelters. We can volunteer at hospitals or nursing homes. We can help tutor kids or mentor youth who are struggling. We can clean up parks or neighborhoods. Whatever we do, we need to do it with love and intentionality. By doing so, we can share the hope and love of Christ with those who do not know Him.
When we serve our community, we also have the opportunity to build relationships with those around us. We can share our faith with others as we serve alongside them. We can show them the love of Christ in practical ways, and they will be able to see the difference that Jesus makes in our lives. Through these relationships, we can invite others to know Jesus and to become part of our church family.
However, if we neglect our duty to serve, we are missing out on an opportunity to show the love of Christ to those around us. We are also missing out on an opportunity to grow in our own faith. When we serve others, we are serving Christ himself. We are growing in our own walk with Jesus as we become more like Him in our actions and attitudes.
Let us be a church that makes a lasting impact in our community. Let us serve others with love and intentionality and let us share the love of Christ with those who do not know Him. By doing so, we can be the light in a dark world and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
