You Don’t Need the Odds

“’And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.” - Hebrews 11:6 
 
It was 28-3. He was facing the largest deficit in the history of the Super Bowl. No team had ever come back from so many points, and now, Tom Brady, quarterback of the New England Patriots had just over 17 minutes of game time left to do so.

Many would say it was impossible. Odds makers gave him less than a 1% chance to do so. And yet, after 17 minutes of regulation, and one drive in overtime, Tom Brady held the Vince Lombardi trophy as the winner of yet another Super Bowl.  

When asked about his mentality before that comeback, Brady said, “You can look at that situation and basically quit and say, you know, we have no shot of winning. Or you can say, this is going to be an amazing comeback. When we come back from this, this is going to be the defining moment in our lives or a defining moment in our professional careers.”
 
As he led the greatest comeback in NFL history, Brady wasn’t considering the odds. He believed. And you know what? You should do the same. Brady might have been believing in his own abilities, but you have something even more powerful; you have the power of Almighty God on your side.

See, God wants to lead you to a comeback. That thing you are going through right now that you just don’t see yourself getting over? God does. That situation you don’t know if you will ever see the other side? God knows. That relationship that you think will never be fixed? God says it will.
 
God wants to give you the comeback you wish for, but unfortunately, you have failed to believe in Him. Hebrews 11:6 says, “’And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”

You might be saying, “I have failed so many times…the odds aren’t in my favor.” To that, Tom Brady would say that you don’t need the odds. And I would say, you only need the Lord.  

God wants to give you the greatest comeback of your life. Do you believe it’s possible? Are you prepared for God to do something special in your life? Without faith, it is impossible. But with faith, you can beat the odds!
