GO NOW
“And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of Him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.” - Luke 2:38
Over the last few days, we have looked at several different people who missed out on Jesus during the days of His birth. But there is good news in the nativity story. While many missed Jesus, there were other who did not.
They were people who, with everything they had going on, wanted their lives turned around; they were at a point where they wanted a change and were looking to God to make a shift. When they were given an opportunity to get closer to Jesus, they took it.
An example of these people was the wise men. They were not even Jews. And even though God’s promised plan of redemption was for the Jews, the wise men followed that star when they saw it in the sky. Everybody knew that God’s promised salvation was of the Jews. Yet the wise men saw their star.
Then, there were those like Simeon and Anna, poor but saintly people who like many others “were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem” (Luke 2:38). No one would have given a second thought to these people. They were not important in the social structure of the ancient East.
In general, they were despised and symbolized those who were considered outcasts in society. And yet, when the angels appeared to them in Luke 2 while they were keeping watch over their flock, they sensed the glory of the Lord move and immediately said to themselves, “Let’s go to Bethlehem now to see what God is doing.”
Maybe you can relate to the position these people were in. Oftentimes we think of Bible characters as these famous highly appointed people. But here are regular people who were obedient when they felt the conviction of God.
And when it was time to respond, they did. When they sensed God's glory moving, they went to see it! God is waiting for you to do the same. You don’t have to be some highly appointed person to respond to God. When you sense the spirit speaking, that is your sign – GO NOW!
