The Pain of Regret
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” - 1 Timothy 4:7
There aren’t many things worse than regret – looking back at something you could have done, would have done, or should have done. If you were to talk to someone who was approaching the end of their life, you would most likely sense the pain of regret in their voice.
They wish they could have done more, impacted more, and been more. But instead, they missed opportunities that were in front of them. I want to encourage you today; don’t look back at the end of your life and think “I wish I would have ______.” Or “If only I had ______.”
Living with regret is a painful way to live. Instead, when your time comes to an end, you should be able to say what Paul said in 1 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
God wants you to understand the impact your life can have on this world. He can do amazing things in and through you. But not if you miss it. Not if you tell him no, or later, or not right now. The opportunities God gives might not come around again.
Don’t look back one day and live with the pain of regret. It’s a miserable way to live. Instead, seize your opportunity now. Follow God, pursue His plans and purposes, and say yes quickly and readily so that you can experience the blessings and be the blessing that God wants your life to be!
