A Powerful Posture
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:31
When you place your hope in the Lord, you will hold a powerful posture. That is exactly what hope gives us: power. But that kind of hope is not in our own power but in the power of Almighty God. No matter what is going on in our lives, He can change it all, and He can do so at a moment’s notice.
Isaiah 40:31 gives us this perfect picture when it says, “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Notice the posture change. Instead of bent over hopeless, we will “mount up” with wings like eagles. Instead of sluggishly walking, we can run without growing tired. This verse portrays a posture of power. That posture comes from the hope that God will do what He says He will do.
Are you holding a powerful posture despite your current circumstances? The Lord has called us to be different from those who do not believe in Him. Yet far too many Christians walk around with the same posture as nonbelievers when things aren’t going their way.
We do not have to have a posture of hopelessness because of the One who holds our circumstances. Even when the sun isn’t shining on our lives, we can still walk with a powerful posture.
Your posture and your hope shouldn’t change with your circumstances. When it does, you are revealing a lack of faith. But God is still working in your life, and because of that, you can walk with a confident disposition, not in your abilities, but in His power!
