Impossible to Please
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.” - Hebrews 11:6
Did you know that without faith it is impossible to please God? Hebrews 11:6 tells us this when it says, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”
But what is faith? We get that answer just five verses earlier in Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” According to this verse, faith is believing in what you HOPE for.
Now, this isn’t talking about hoping to have a unicorn or hoping to grow wings and fly. This is hope in Jesus Christ and what He can do in and through you. We talked yesterday about how hope is the lifeblood of our lives. We cannot exist without hope.
Think about it, without hope...what are you living for? When someone commits suicide, there is often a lot of speculation. But what it really boils down to is that person lost hope. They didn’t believe things could be resolved or that their life could take a turn for the better. Ultimately, they lost hope.
I can’t stress enough that you just can’t live without hope. But not only can you not live without it, you can’t please God without it. God doesn’t instruct us to believe only in what we have seen. Anyone can do that. Nonbelievers can do that!
I want to challenge you today, whatever is going on in your life, whatever struggle you are facing, there is hope. The mere fact that you are still breathing is proof that God still has a greater plan for your life. Do not lose hope.
God has instructed you to have faith, and that means believing in things HOPED for. God can bring our hopes to life. The question is, do you have faith in hope?
