He Shows You
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” - Psalm 16:11
Over the past few days, we have discussed how, like the young boy was frustrated at his father, we too can become frustrated with God because we feel like we have an unmet desire.
First we learned that God sees you. You are not invisible. With 8 billion people in the world, God still cares about your unique situation. We then learned that God secures you. He is a protector and nothing good will come to you too early on too late. But there is one more thing He does. Today, we will focus on how God shows you He cares.
God tells us in His word, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:19). This can apply to everlasting life for believers; but this can also apply to our everyday lives. God provides new mercies every day, a new opportunity at life for us to not only be loved, but for us to make a mark in this world for His purpose.
Everything is in His time because, 1) if we are not spiritually mature enough for the blessing, we will not be able to handle it. We will misuse the gift. We will not appreciate the blessing. We may sabotage the opportunity. And 2) there is a divine purpose for everything we do. It’s bigger than our individual desires. God has a collective purpose for you to be blessed in order that you may be a blessing.
That trial you are going through is going to help someone else navigate theirs. Learning the process of starting that business is going to help another person navigate their business easier. Your life navigation through difficult waters is going to pave the way for someone like you to gain greater opportunities, reach new heights, and open doors for those behind them.
It’s bigger than you and your current feelings. God has a divine destination for you that takes multiple steps to achieve. Psalm 16 reminds us that in God’s presence there is fullness of joy. That fullness does not rely on temporary circumstances or fleeting happiness. That joy comes from the One who will do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power (His power) that works in us.
Just like that young boy in our father/son scenario will probably look back when he is older or has children and realize just why his father denied him in that moment, there will come a time for you too when you will later recognize that God is orchestrating everything for your good and His glory. God will show you just why that “no” or “not yet” was necessary. Just give it a little more time.
