Seeing is Not Believing
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.” - Hebrews 11:6
There is a familiar saying, “Seeing is believing.” But when it comes to God, that should not be our mantra. I have heard skeptics say, “show me a miracle and I’ll believe.” But even if God performed a real miracle, they would still look for a scientific explanation or find other reasons to not believe what their eyes just saw.
Believing is seeing. But seeing is not believing. God doesn’t say, see what I’ve done, then you can believe. God requires us to have faith. He wants us to trust in that which we have not seen yet.
If we do not, we cannot please Him. He quite literally says it is impossible. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”
God wants your faith, not your scientific explanations and skepticism. You can leave that at the door. If you really want to follow God, it is going to require you to trust in that which is not yet seen. How are you going to trust God with your eternal life if you can’t even trust Him with your life here on earth?
You might be asking God to give you a sign, or you might be saying, “God, if only ______, then I will believe.” But God doesn’t work that way. He wants you to trust what His Word says. He wants you to trust in His power. The Bible says that every word is truth. God wants you to believe that. No “ifs, ands, or buts” about it.
What is holding you back? What do you need to see to believe? The truth is you don’t need to see. You just need to TRUST that God will supply all your needs. Without faith it is impossible to please God. God isn’t asking you to see it; He is asking you to believe it. Have faith and trust Him, for it is the only way to experience a personal relationship with your Creator.
