He Shows Up
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” - Isaiah 41:10
I recently came across a book entitled, “The Power of Showing Up” in which the authors point out that one of the very best scientific predictors of how any child turns out—in terms of happiness, academic success, leadership skills, and meaningful relationships—is whether at least one adult in their life has consistently shown up for them.
Most often that adult is a parent, but it could really be any adult in that child’s life – a teacher, a minister, another family member, a coach, or a counselor. Whoever it is, the authors explain that showing up is the act of offering quality time and presence to meet the needs of every child.
This is not only true for a young child but all of us as children of God. We are all in need of God. And we need Him to show up in our lives. That is how He designed us, to need His presence! You were never meant to walk through this life alone, even as an adult!
The good news is that as a follower of Jesus, when you need Him, God will be there. He will always show up for you. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
It doesn’t matter what your background is, what you have done, or where you are now. God loves you. He is ready and waiting for you to call on Him. And when you do, He will show up in your life.
In what area of your life do you need God to show up? He will. You just have to let Him in. Ask God to show up in your life today, and then watch as He works in ways you could have never imagined!
