Why Do I Have So Many Problems?
“He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams.” - Psalm 23:2
Over the past week, we have covered the function of the gate mentioned in John 10. Jesus is the gate, and as the gate, He offers us access to solutions and safety. The last function of the door referenced in John 10 is to lead the sheep into a corral to graze and lie down in green pastures. This is the imagery the psalmist has in mind in Psalm 23:2 when he says, “He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams.”
There, the sheep can receive nourishment and obtain strength for the rest of their journey. By coming through the gate, the sheep are made strong, they become healthy, and they are made whole. This is why Jesus says in the text, “I am the door, whoever comes in by me... will come in and go out and find pasture.”
When the sheep come through the door they are saved and protected from threats on the outside, but they also obtain rest and strength in green pastures on the inside. The point is that when Jesus is made the center and the priority of your life, you will find the nurture and nourishment that you need. Life in Christ ought to be a place where you are fed. When you are fed, you become strong, and when you become strong, you grow!
At times, you may find is difficult to celebrate what is happening in your life. You may say to yourself, “if Jesus gives us access to godly solutions, if Jesus gives us access to safety, and if Jesus provides us security, why do I still have so many problems? Why do I still have difficulties in my life? Family problems? Financial challenges? Relationship issues?”
Well, sometimes the blessing is in the pressing. You must go through to get to a place of peace and wholeness. The important thing is to take your concerns before God. Ask Him for help. He wants to give you godly solutions. He wants to give you safety, and He wants to give you security. Have you asked for it?
