Godly Solutions
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” - John 10:10
When Jesus says, “I am the door,” the first thing He is telling us is that through Him we gain access to godly solutions. The community who heard this saying had been waiting for deliverance from their oppressors.
Their world was defined by struggle, persecution, and suffering. The mistreatment and discrimination by the Romans affected just about every aspect of their daily lives. Jesus’ life, teachings, and ministry were the answer to the crises they were in. There could be no freedom without going through Him.
There would be no liberation without coming to Him. There would be no hope, no peace, and no joy without coming through the door, and that door was Jesus Christ. He says, “I am the door, and whoever enters by me will be saved.”
Now, we tend to think of salvation in terms of life in heaven after we die. But when Jesus says in John 10:10, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life,” He is not talking about life and death. Instead, He is talking about experiencing the fullness of life while we live.
Eternal life doesn’t begin when we exit the stage of this earthly existence. When we are saved, eternal life begins right now. And Jesus says He is the door. He gives us access to receiving godly solutions to life’s challenges. That is salvation. That is what He does all throughout Scripture, and it is what He does in your life now.
God doesn’t just want to be your fire insurance. He has the godly solutions you need in your life, NOW. And He wants to give you access to those solutions here on earth. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you do not need to wait to gain that access; you have it now!
